Remember that song by the Spin Doctors, Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong? We used to tease one of our friends in high school that that song was written for her because she was so stubborn.
Do you have those people in your life…the ones that are right even when they are wrong? I know people that will argue with you just to do it. If you tell them the grass is green and the sky is blue, they will debate the exact shade of green and blue with you just to be the ones that are right in that conversation.
You know them: the people that are always the ones that know more; the ones that are better; the ones that even when they know they aren’t right, will NEVER admit it.
I always wonder why. Why do they feel the need to be right all the time?
Those kind of people find satisfaction in making themselves be above others. And I’ll be the first to admit that I am guilty of it. When I hang out with those kinds of people, I can feel my attitude changing. It’s so ugly. It’s VERY unattractive to be the person that never is humble.
Pride can be an ugly, ugly thing.
I struggle with pride and asking for help…I can’t afford to let pride eat me up there.
I don’t see the need in being difficult. Why not be someone that gets along with people?
It makes me think of this Bible verse: First pride, then the crash— the bigger the ego, the harder the fall. Proverbs 16:18
Pride will bring you down. It will eat you up. It will kill you eventually. Or drive everyone away.
Knowledge makes people arrogant, but love builds people up. If anyone thinks they know something, they don’t yet know as much as they should know. 1 Corinthians 8:1-3
