• Generation “overshare”

Social media – I can’t stand it and I almost can’t live without it. It’s tied to everything now and it’s HUGE source for news for people. In a survey conducted in 2016, approximately 50% of 18-49 year-olds get their news online. Now, a lot of times it’s not the most credible news, but the majority of the breaking news will hit there first. At least people are being kept up to date with breaking news (even if it is just headlines). But beyond that, social media has really become a source of sharing your life and sometimes…oversharing. In a recent dinner conversation I was having with a friend, we…

  • Single in Music City: Meet Mr. Doesn’t have a clue or a job

I mentioned a few posts ago that I was going to start sharing some of my dating stories with you, so here goes the first one! I was matched up with a guy recently who actually took the initiative and messaged me first. He seemed okay at first, the conversation flowed well, no red flags. We chatted for about a week, I think, and exchanged phone numbers in the meantime. He asked me to dinner pretty early on, which is always a good sign. If they don’t do that soon, I start to think they aren’t real and that I need to send Nev and Max an email. This guy…

  • Favorite song Friday: Castaway

I used to laugh at people that said they had celebrity crushes. But it’s real. I have a crush on this guy! And his voice…gah. Castaway.

  • Top 10 things guys do that make me swipe left

When you are participating in online dating, especially those with any of the “swiping” apps, a first impression is CRUCIAL. For me, you have about 2.3 seconds to convince me to read your profile and look at other photos. IF I do proceed with checking you out, there are a few things that can immediately turn me off. I swipe left if: You are not smiling. I’m not the biggest fan of my smile, but I still do it! If you aren’t smiling in ONE photo, that makes me think you need to get an attitude adjustment and I’m not up for the job! You’re flipping off the camera. C’mon,…

  • Single in Music City: Adventures in dating

Prior to moving to Nashville, I was single for four years. As in, I went FOUR years without going on a date. Mostly because I’m so tired of it. But also, the pool of available men where I lived was like a puddle in July. If anyone could bring art to life via the gif below, it’s me: The entire concept is so annoying. But, in order to meet someone, it’s a necessary evil. I thought when I moved to a city with approximately 1.6 million people, dating would be…easier? Strike that…meeting men would be easier – is the better way to phrase that. I joined a gym. No one…

  • Make room on the bandwagon!

Hi, I’m Heather and I’m on the Predator bandwagon. There was plenty of room and because Nashville is the friendliest city in the country, they are very welcoming.  If you’re not a hockey fan or if you don’t live in the state of Tennessee you may not know that the Nashville Predators are going to the NHL Finals.  Also known as the Stanley Cup. This time last year, I couldn’t have told you who was going. For that matter, I can’t now. Because I’m not a “real” hockey fan. However, you probably won’t know that from my last few IG posts or stories. I have no problem admitting that I’m…

  • New Kids played this block

Y’all. Wednesday night, a dream of my childhood came true. I saw New Kids on the Block in concert. A significant part of the soundtrack of my childhood includes NKOTB. I have so many memories of walking Horseshoe Bend Road or laying under a tree in our yard with my headphones to my Walkman covering my ears with the OG boy band blasting in my ears. And last night, 20+ years later, that little girl got her wish to see these guys in concert. I can’t explain how giddy I was. I’ve been to several concerts, so many that it’s kind of a joke and definitely a hobby. I don’t…

  • I knew living in Music City would be dangerous.

I knew that when I moved to Nashville, it could potentially be dangerous for me. But I don’t think I knew how dangerous… I’m not talking about the shootings, robbery, or other crime that happens across the city. I’m talking about concerts. I live in Music City. The heart of country music. A still up and coming city with an abundance of live entertainment options. And according to my wallet, I’ve been taking advantage of this option. This week, I was looking at my account balance and was so proud of myself to have a little extra after paying all the bills. I was thinking that I could throw that money…

  • Well, hey there.

I haven’t logged into this blog in sometime.  I love writing but when you write for a living, it’s really difficult to sit down and write more in your free time. But I figured it was about time to update anyone that may read this. And free time? That’s not something I’ve had a lot of. Thus, another reason I haven’t posted a blog in a while. And, I just haven’t been able to write about anything interesting. Not that I’ve not done anything interesting, because I have. Nashville is always interesting, but I just haven’t wanted to write about it. And now we’re back to excuse one. So –…
